What is Medicare?
Medicare is a fee-for-service health care program for seniors, in which the government pays health care providers directly for services that fall under Parts A and B of Medicare benefits. If you are looking for more coverage than Original Medicare, you can purchase one of our Medicare Advantage Plans to receive all your Part A and Part B benefits. Medicare is divided into four categories. This allows you to customize your personal coverage when shopping for a comprehensive policy.
- Part A (hospital insurance): Covers hospital care, emergency services, nursing home care, home health services and hospice.
- Part B (medical insurance): Covers medically necessary services and supplies used for diagnosing and treating medical conditions, and preventative services
- Part C: Combines Parts A and B and often part D as well.
- Part D: Offers prescription drug coverage.
-
We offer Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug Plans and Medicare Supplement (Medi-Gap), and Medicare Pharmacy plans from leading carriers.
How to get started early with Medicare planning
- Talk with your agent about six months before you want to use your Medicare parts A or B. This will allow for advanced planning, for your transition to Medicare health insurance.
- Complete and return the Medicare Scope of Appointment Form. This form allows your agent to contact your about Medicare and provide you with details about Medicare Advantage Plans.
- Decide if you want to take your social security income
- Decide if you will keep working, or retire at age 65. If you continue to work after age 65, then determine how many employees your employer has on average. This will determine if it is advisable for you to purchase Medicare part B, or you may have an option to defer purchasing Medicare part B if your employer has more than 19 employees
