AHIP, the American Hospital Association and the US Chamber of Commerce sent a letter to House and Senate leaders encouraging them to “prioritize maintaining private health benefits for individuals and families and to increase coverage options for those who are already uninsured” as they work on legislation to combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The groups, whose recommendations were endorsed by 30 other stakeholder groups, called for a special enrollment period for Affordable Care Act coverage, increased ACA subsidies for people and new subsidies for employers, and aid for continued coverage after employees are laid off.
