President to Sign Executive Order to Open Healthcare.gov for SEP

Later today, President Biden is expected to sign a series of executive orders to strengthen Americans’ access to quality, affordable healthcare.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, NAHU has requested that HHS allow for a continuous open enrollment to allow Americans’ access to coverage through Healthcare.gov. Based on the executive order, it is expected that HHS will open HealthCare.gov for a special enrollment period from February 15 through May 15. This SEP will give Americans who need healthcare coverage during this global pandemic the opportunity to sign up.

The president will also direct federal agencies to reconsider rules and other policies that limit Americans’ access to healthcare, and consider actions that will protect and strengthen that access.
