Completing a Scope of Appointment (SOA) is a crucial step in ensuring a smooth and compliant discussion about your Medicare options. The SOA is a brief form that documents the specific topics you and your licensed insurance agent agree to discuss during a meeting, such as Medicare Advantage plans, prescription drug plans, or supplemental coverage. Its purpose is to protect your privacy, give you control over the conversation, and ensure that any advice provided is tailored to your interests and needs. CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) requires the SOA to be completed at least 48 hours before your scheduled appointment to give your agent time to prepare and provide the most accurate, focused guidance.
